12/16/1999 - QUAKE III SERVER ONLINE!

Attention GAMERS:

The staff of Modem Madness has put up a Quake III server for our members (and others!) to enjoy!
If you are a gamer and would like to join in on the fun, then purchase QUAKE III and join us at
quake3.madbbs.com using the default port.

Currently the game is set up to allow 16 players at a time and is configured for team play. We "MIGHT" run multiple
Quake III servers to allow FREE FOR ALL of maybe even a CAPTURE THE FLAG game. This will all depend on how well
this first server works out.

PLEASE NOTE! The Quake III server is a FREE SERVER and while we hope to see it run for a VERY long time... we
do not make any promises. The server is there for everyone to enjoy for as long as it is there. Hope to see a few
of you join in for a few FRAGS!

Special note: There is a second Quake3 server at Modem Madness and it is set up
as a CTF server. The location is useast.madbbs.com on the default port.

12/15/2000 - NEW QUAKE III UPDATE now running on our server (AGAIN!)

There is a new point release for quake 3 that must be installed if you
play on our server. The update is at www.madbbs.com/quake3/updates/ and
will update you to version 1.27g.

PLEASE NOTE:

If you upgrade to version 1.27g and your graphics are all messed up after that,
then check your baseq3 directory for the file jdane.pk3 and delete it! I don't
know why, but when this file was in my baseq3 directory I could not see most of
the Q3 graphics any longer after doing this update. I must assume that the
jdane.pk3 file is not compatible with this new release.

Webmaster's Note: The Modem Madness Quake III server is set up as a Free For All!
and may have some Bots in it at times !!!
This Quake Server is set to PURE SERVER If you have extra skins on your baseq3 directory
You will not be able to log on.

Good Rule of Thumb, If the pk3 has a file with .aas or arena extention, your ok!
The pk3 files are zip files. Winzip will work to look in the files.

Additional skins will be added later, or send your favorite skins to sysop@madbbs.com
The extra game maps are ok, even if the Quake III server at Modem Madness does not have it
Download the new Modem Madness Quake III Maps ASAP! (3/2/2000)
The Auto Download in Quake III does work, but it is real slow! even for ADSL users.
